Wastewater Treatment Plant Renovation

The Village of Itasca is pleased to announce the renovation of their Wastewater Treatment Plant and the replacement of the Holiday Inn Lift Station, which will take place over the next several months.  The treatment plant and lift station work for the Village of Itasca was wholly financed by the Water Pollution Control Loan Program through the State Revolving Fund (SRF).  The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Renovation project includes replacement of the sludge dewatering equipment, replacement of the disinfection system, improvements to the plant HVAC, SCADA computer communications, internal piping, and mechanical process elements. The lift station replacement project will include installation of new concrete lift station basins, new pumps, new controls, and a flow meter and generator.  The primary goal of the wastewater plant project is to improve its reliability and efficiency. The primary goal of the Holiday Inn lift station project is to update the 45-year old facility to modern standards while facilitating future community growth.
