The work performed will be the excavation and removal of the existing roadway and placement of the aggregate base for the new roadway. W. Center Street will be closed daily, on work days, to through and emergency traffic, from 7 am to 3:30 pm daily, between Oak Street and Willow Street.

The existing utility trench at the intersection of Catalpa Avenue and Center Street will be prepared and patched with asphalt on Thursday, July 5th and Friday, July 6th. Flaggers will be directing traffic. We encourage motorists to cross the railroad tracks at Walnut Street during the hours of 7 am to 3:30 pm on these days.

The Contractor will be installing storm sewer on W. Division Street between N. Maple Street and N. Oak Street and will be installing water services between the new main and b-boxes at residences on N. Linden Street between E. North Street and E. Division Street.

At Peacock School, the Contractor will begin installing framing for the school entrance sidewalk and installing underground conduits for the lighted bollards to be installed.

W. Center Street, E. North Street, W. Division Street and N. Linden Street will be closed to through traffic and traffic will be detoured.

There will be no work on Tuesday, the 4th of July.

Work is expected to occur weekdays between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Through traffic will be detoured around the work areas. We thank you for your patience. 

During this work expect the following:

  • All roads will be open to emergency vehicles, except as noted for W. Center Street.
  • Utility work (ComEd, Nicor Gas, MCI, etc.) along the project area will be taking place throughout construction.
  • Heavy Construction Equipment, material deliveries, material storage in parkways and construction noise will be present from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily and at times until dusk.
  • The construction will create dust and debris. The Contractor will work to minimize the impacts.
  • Access to driveways may be briefly interrupted - Workers will inform residents of driveway interruption prior to its occurrence.
  • Temporary truck staging is expected on roadways and adjacent streets.
  • Please Use CAUTION in around the construction site.
  • The schedule is weather dependent.
  • Use caution at the protruding manhole frames surrounded by cushioned protector rings.
