Roadway and Infrastructure Improvements Program

Construction Update – 2023 Roadway & Infrastructure Improvements – Phase 2 Week of June 11, 2023

Access to St. Peter the Apostle Church will be via Cherry Street at Elm using the exit drive as an entrance drive. Water Main installation will continue on E. North Street between Rush Street and Elm Street. The Contractor will install a Water Main connection at the intersection of N. Willow Street and W. Center Street on Friday, June 16th.   

The Contractor will be reconstructing the intersection of Bryn Mawr Avenue and N. Elm Street between Bryn Mawr Avenue and E. North Street all of next week. The existing roadway will be excavated to subgrade and aggregate road base placed in preparation of upcoming curb placement and paving operations for the following week. Temporary aggregate will be placed for driveway access at this time. On Friday, June 16th, the intersection of Bryn Mawr Avenue and N. Elm Street will be fully closed from 7 am to 5 pm for roadway removal and placement of temporary aggregate base.

N. Elm Street, W. Center Street, N. Oak Street, N. Elm Street and N. Linden Street will be closed to through traffic and traffic will be detoured.

Work is expected to occur on weekdays between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Through traffic will be detoured around the work areas. We thank you for your patience. 

During this work expect the following:

  • All roads will be open to emergency vehicles except for full closures, from 7 am to 5 PM for the intersection of North Street and Rush Street on Monday, June 12th, and the intersection of Bryn Mawr and Elm on Friday, June 16th.
  • Utility work (ComEd, NICOR, MCI, etc.) along the project area will be taking place throughout construction.
  • Heavy Construction Equipment, material deliveries, material storage in parkways and construction noise will be present from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily and at times until dusk.
  • The construction will create dust and debris.  The Contractor will work to minimize the impacts.
  • Access to driveways may be briefly interrupted.
  • Workers will inform residents of driveway interruption prior to its occurrence.
  • Temporary truck staging is expected on roadways and adjacent streets.
  • Please Use CAUTION in around the construction site.
  • The schedule is weather dependent.
