Starting Tues., Sept. 5th, the Village will begin its annual fire hydrant flushing work, in collaboration with our consultant, M.E. Simpson. Fire hydrant flushing plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of our water distribution system.
This process not only refreshes our drinking water but also gathers crucial fire flow data, which is essential for our fire department and insurance companies.
This program is expected to run for approximately three weeks. To keep you informed about the specific areas where flushing will occur, we will provide advance notice through signage at key roadway intersections.
During this period, there may be instances where sediment is stirred up or dislodged from pipe walls, resulting in temporary water discoloration. To address this issue in your homes, we kindly request that you run your cold water taps until the water returns to its usual clarity.
Should you have any inquiries or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact Itasca Public Works at 630-773-2455. We greatly appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this essential maintenance effort.
