Traffic Alert - Rohlwing Rd. RxR Crossing Closing in Itasca
September 22, 2011 – October 6, 2011 – Illinois Route 53 (Rohlwing Road) will be closed, weather permitting, in both directions at Metra’s Milwaukee District-West Line crossing just north of Illinois 19 (Irving Park Road) for approximately 10 days beginning Thursday, September 22.

A detour route utilizing Irving Park Road, Meacham/Medinah Road, and Nerge Road will be posted along the project area.

Motorists should expect delays and allow extra time for trips through this area. Please obey the speed limit, observe closure signs, and remain alert for workers.

This closing is part of the Illinois Department of Transportation's (IDOT) Illinois Route 53 reconstruction project from Army Trail Road to the Elgin O'Hare Expressway.  This project will widen the existing two-lane roadway to provide a five-lane roadway comprised of two lanes in each direction and a center median for left turns.  This project has already begun and is expected to be completed by October 31, 2012.

More information on these projects can be found at www.dot.il.gov/il53/index.html.
