    This is NOT a book discussion! It is a discussion about books. If you love to read but don’t want to join a book discussion, check out this group. We will share the books we are reading, and get ideas on what to read next. For those with young children, the Youth Department has its Magic School Bus program for kids in grades K-2 at the same time; drop off the kids at that program, and then come to Title Talk. A separate registration is required for each month.

    The library has new 24/7 online resources that give you useful and reliable information. Come learn how to use AtoZ Databases for your directory needs, MasterFILE Complete for reading popular magazines, and more. And yes, you can still read Consumer Reports online via the library’s website.

  11. Meatless Mondays: Food on the Homefront During WWI

    Shortages and substitutions were the food themes during World War I. Learn how creative cooks at home saved to help feed the troops during the WWI era in this presentation from cookbook collector Amy Alessio. Samples of treats and recipes deriving from the WWI era will be provided. Space is limited – register early!

    Learn about the Australian Aboriginal tradition of telling creation stories through symbolic paintings, called “dreaming”. Then use collage and tempera paint to create your own “Dreamtime” art. Space is limited – register early!

  28. WWI: The Dawn of the Modern World

    World War I is considered the first modern war because of the great technological advances in the weapons of war. These include the airplane, dreadnought battleships, and tanks. It also marked a major change in world history with the collapse of four old empires and the beginnings of new political entities. Come discover how the war created the world that we live in today.

  37. European Art at the Time of WWI

    Learn about this exciting art period from art historian Jeff Mishur of Art Excursions. The second decade of the 20th century was tumultuous both in history and art history. Displaying great diversity and creativity, Picasso, Kandinsky, Duchamp, Boccioni and others established the dominant paths others would follow for a century.
