  1. Read to the Rhythm with Super Stolie (All Ages)

    July 7, 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM @ Itasca Community Library

Celebrate the Read to the Rhythm summer reading theme with Super Stolie! Her musical show will focus on language, alliteration, pronunciation, and rhyme. Super Stolie will share her original music for kids as well as songs you’re sure to know. She’ll teach you some tunes and dance moves to get your body moving along with your musical mouth, too. And when you’re sufficiently tongue-tied, the show will conclude with an instrument petting zoo to give your hands a chance to show off what they can do as well! Registration is required.

  2. Just 20 Feet from Safety: The Story of the S.S. Eastland

    July 9, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Itasca Community Library

On July 24, 1915, the S.S. Eastland sank in the Chicago River. Relive the events and aftermath of that fateful day in this dramatic retelling of eyewitness Ollie Sanders, a Western Electric employee who saw it all. This is a family-friendly program.

  3. Teen Advisory Board (entering Grades 6-12)

    July 14, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM @ Itasca Community Library

Teens, let your voices be heard! Join the Teen Advisory Board and let us know what types of activities you’d like to see at the library, what books and movies you want available for checkout, and even what snacks you’d like to eat at the next program. A separate registration is required for each month.

  4. 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

    July 14, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ Itasca Community Library

What is the ADA and how has it impacted our lives for the past 25 years? Rose Chenoweth, Director of Talking Books, will lead off the celebration with an overview of the Americans with Disabilities Act followed by other special services providers. Co-sponsored by Illinois Talking Book Outreach Center. Refreshments will be served. Please let us know if a sign language interpreter is needed at least two weeks before the program date.

  5. Master Gardener Help Desk

    July 15, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Itasca Community Library

Master gardeners from the University of Illinois Extension will be here to answer your gardening questions. Stop by the information table to get answers about bugs, plants that are struggling or dying, and what plants will work best in your garden. No registration required.

  6. Wiggles Storytime (geared to ages 2-5 years)

    July 16, 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM @ Itasca Community Library

Sing and dance with stories and songs from The Wiggles. We’ll also make a craft, have a snack, and more. Geared to ages 2-5, but younger children may attend with an adult. Registration is required.

  7. Your eLibrary: Movies! Books! Music!

    July 22, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Itasca Community Library

Now you can watch movies, read or listen to books, and listen to new music 24/7 free via your library’s digital collection – featuring hoopla, My Media Mall, and eRead Illinois. Learn what equipment you need (very little) and how to do it (very easily). The eLibrary collection is for Itasca cardholders only.

  8. Drop-In Crafts (All Ages)

    July 28, 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM @ Itasca Community Library

Celebrate summer reading by making a fun music-themed craft! A different craft will be available at each session, and registration is not required.

  9. Instrument Petting Zoo (All Ages)

    July 30, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Itasca Community Library

We’ll end Read to the Rhythm with a bang (and a toot and a whistle) at this program! Drop in anytime between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. to meet various instruments and get to try them out. Instruments will be provided and demonstrated by Music & Arts in Itasca. Registration is not required.
