    Drop in to play chess with other adults in a casual atmosphere. We’ll provide the chess sets and free coffee in our West Meeting Room. Our new chess club is an affiliate of the Illinois Chess Association.

  2. Ladies Night Out: BINGO!

    October 23, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Itasca Community Library

    The Friends of the Library are sponsoring the popular Ladies BINGO Party to benefit the Itasca Food Pantry. Please bring non-perishable food items or household products, or you can make a monetary donation.

    October 25, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Springbrook Nature Center

    Come and enjoy pony rides, pumpkin decorating, games, snacks, and more at the beautiful Springbrook Nature Center!

  4. Dreamtime: Australian Dot Paintings

    October 27, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Itasca Community Library

    Learn about the Australian Aboriginal tradition of telling creation stories through symbolic paintings, called “dreaming”. Then use collage and tempera paint to create your own “Dreamtime” art. Space is limited – register early!

  5. WWI: The Dawn of the Modern World

    October 27, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Itasca Community Library

    World War I is considered the first modern war because of the great technological advances in the weapons of war. These include the airplane, dreadnought battleships, and tanks. It also marked a major change in world history with the collapse of four old empires and the beginnings of new political entities. Come discover how the war created the world that we live in today.

    Calling all craft enthusiasts! This new drop-in group is for anyone who wants to spend creative time with like-minded people. Bring your own project to work on or learn something new from others. THIS IS THE AFTERNOON SESSION - THERE IS ALSO AN EVENING SESSION ON THE SAME DAY.

  7. Tech Office Hours

    October 28, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Itasca Community Library

    Our drop-in tech help will be available every Tuesday. Please note the new hours. Bring your device, cords, and passwords and we’ll do our best to assist you.

  11. Halloween Storytime

    October 30, 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM @ Itasca Community Library

    Join us for non-scary Halloween stories and rhymes. In addition, go trick-or-treating throughout the library to the different library departments. Geared to ages 3-6, but younger children are welcome with an adult. Please feel free to wear your Halloween costumes! Registration is required.

  12. Drop-In Trick-or-Treating

    October 30, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM @ Itasca Community Library

    Wear your Halloween costume and drop in to the library to trick-or-treat and decorate a Halloween bag. No registration is required. Come early and listen to Halloween stories at Halloween Storytime at 10:00-10:45 a.m. Registration is required for Halloween Storytime.

  14. European Art at the Time of WWI

    October 30, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Itasca Community Library

    Learn about this exciting art period from art historian Jeff Mishur of Art Excursions. The second decade of the 20th century was tumultuous both in history and art history. Displaying great diversity and creativity, Picasso, Kandinsky, Duchamp, Boccioni and others established the dominant paths others would follow for a century.
