The City of Chicago's Department of Aviation is now providing an on-line service for citizens to express their concerns about particular aircraft noise events or aircraft noise levels in general.

To better gauge the level of disturbance, residents submitting an aircraft noise complaint will be asked a series of questions. The information that is gathered throughout the month is imported to the Airport Noise Management System (ANMS) and tabulated in a report either to Midway or O'Hare International Airports. The ANMS reports summarize the total number of complaints per month, where the callers were located, the number of calls by community as well as the number of individual callers.

The ANMS reports are then brought to the Midway and O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission meetings where the data is discussed. The ANMS reports are also posted to our web site
.

Letter from Village President to OMP Commissioner

Letter from congress to the FAA regarding Noise pollution

The Suburban O’Hare Commission (SOC) is developing a team of technical aviation experts to explore means and methods of having O’Hare Airport serve as a good neighbor. SOC understands that O’Hare modernization has been approved by the FAA and is well underway. However, aviation experts will be employed by SOC to develop a list of realistic recommendations that can be implemented to mitigate noise issues from O’Hare Airport.

In a recent publication, State Representative Marty Moylan was publicly quoted as stating: “…its fine if the [Suburban O’Hare] commission wants to take the lead”, but Representative Moylan wants to have all the groups involved in the effort as well.

SOC is glad to have Representative Moylan working with us and we welcome any other groups, individuals, or entities who would like to join with us as we move forward with one unified voice to help minimize the impact of O’Hare modernization, and join with us as we work with the airport to become a good neighbor to all.

SOC Chairman and Elk Grove Mayor Craig B. Johnson stated:
SOC has been the lead organization on airport issues for many decades. SOC is comprised of 11 governmental entities representing over 1 million people. We understand that O’Hare modernization is happening, and we are exploring realistic methods that can be recommended by aviation experts to reduce the noise impacts on all of the suburbs and the City of Chicago.

We appreciate the confidence that Representative Moylan has placed in SOC taking the lead on this issue. The State Representative recognizes that SOC is a legitimate, long-standing organization with available financing to achieve true results.

We look forward to working with all people, groups, and entities on achieving this objective, including working with neighboring suburbs, residents of the Chicago, the FAA, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, O’Hare Airport, and the City of Chicago.
