Special Events Permits are required for most Special Events that use Village resources beyond regular day-to-day operations, such as the closure of a Village street, sidewalk, or parking lot or use of police for security or traffic control. Certain events are protected under the U.S. and Illinois Constitutions. Please contact the Deputy Clerk to determine if your event is exempt from the Special Event Permit.
Examples of events that require a Special Event Permit include, but are not limited to:
• Outdoor arts fair, markets, and shows • Races and walks • Festivals • Large fireworks shows • Circus • Carnivals • Parades • Block parties that close streets
Examples of events that DO NOT require a Special Events Permit include, but are not limited to:
• Parties on private property • Garage sales • Indoor carnivals or fun fairs • Political events, protests or marches
