This is a question I’ve been hearing quite a bit. When work began on the new walking paths at Usher Park, an elevation issue was discovered once digging started. To address it properly, work needed to pause briefly before moving forward.
Even with that delay, crews were able to complete most of the work so the park could be open in time for Winter Wonderland. Some areas, however, were seeded later than planned. Those new grass seedlings are still establishing and cannot handle foot traffic yet.
The fencing has remained in place to protect the newly seeded areas and keep pedestrian traffic on the sidewalks. The walking paths and gazebo are open and available for visitors to enjoy.
Once the grass is fully established this spring, the fencing will be removed and the park will be fully open.
