The Village's Tree Dedication program offers residents an opportunity to dedicate or plant a tree to honor a special occasion or remember a loved one. In collaboration with the Itasca Park District, individuals can dedicate a new or existing tree in the Village's Nature Center Arboretum, along the riverwalk, or local park. Your participation not only creates a lasting memory but also enhances the beauty of our parks and trails.

Applications for trees are accepted year-round, with new trees planted during the Village's annual tree planting program in late fall. Dedication ceremonies for new or existing trees occur during the Village's Arbor Day ceremony on the last Saturday in April. Each tree is marked with a plaque on a post, detailing the tree species, the person or event being commemorated, and the individual(s) dedicating the tree. Upon dedication, a framed certificate is presented to the participants, officially recognizing the tree dedication. 

Tree Dedication Fee

An existing tree in the Village’s arboretum can be dedicated for $300 or $600 for a new tree. This will cover the cost of installing the plaque and post on the south side of the tree. To dedicate a tree you, may either select a species or have the staff select the specific tree to be dedicated. Additionally, you may explore the arboretum area with a Village staff member and select an established the tree yourself.
