Rear Yard Drainage Assistance Program

The Village offers the Rear Yard Drainage Assistance Program (RYDAP) to support residents in addressing stormwater drainage issues in rear yard areas that do not have positive drainage to the Village right-of-way.

Through this cost share program, eligible property owners may receive 50% reimbursement—up to $3,000—for approved stormwater improvements that help manage rear yard drainage. These improvements may include solutions that provide positive drainage, infiltration, or evapotranspiration, depending on the site conditions and eligibility requirements.

In some cases, if a Village-owned storm sewer is located within 150 feet of the homeowner’s nearest property line, the Village may install a small-diameter storm sewer to the property line to facilitate a connection.

Homeowners are responsible for the construction and long-term maintenance of all private stormwater improvements. The Village does not assume ownership or maintenance responsibilities for any privately constructed infrastructure.
